Review : Excellent sound card
I really thought hard about buying this sound card given the mixed reviews it seemed to be getting. I've got an ASUS rig and have always been impressed with the quality of ASUS' products so thought about buying a Xonar Essence STX instead. I should also say that I've always bought Creative sound cards and this one was being purchased to replace a PCI Extreme Music card that was causing my graphics card to run hot (blocking fan). That card is very good.

Anyway, I play some games, and listen to a lot of music on my PC. This card sounds awesome. I've got average PC speakers (Creative again) but excellent Bose headphones. It sounds brilliant on both. I read somewhere that someone was re-listening to tracks because they were hearing things for the first time. I guarantee that that's true. I've only had this a week and I'm hearing so much more in my music. It's pricey though but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I do like this card. Musical fidelity and sound stage...
